I just bought a knit stitch reference book, and I’d like to use some of the stitches for mittens and socks. How do you convert a regular knit stitch pattern for knitting in the round? Do you only work right-side rows? Thanks.
Okay, I’ll give an example. Maybe I wasn’t clear. For example, on a flat piece of work, you would work stockinette st by knitting every stitch on the right side and purling every stitch on the wrong side. On circular needles or dpn’s, for stockinette st, you knit every round. So I’m wondering how you would convert a more difficult pattern stitch to work for circular needles or dpn’s.

Pretty self-explainitory. When I cast on and start knitting that row, I get this long tail between the needles that gets bigger and bigger, and it gets so long on hats and stuff that it gets all knotted up.

I figured maybe if I tried casting on differently, it wouldn’t be so bad? Suggestions? I just do a basic sling-shot cast on.

I just recently learned/ taught myself how to knit, so far I am working on a patchwork blanket but would like to take on new projects in the near future. I want to know what are some good websites where I can find free knitting patterns.

Let’s be frank—knitted fingerless gloves aren’t really about keeping your palms warm and your fingers free… They’re about looking rad.

How do I take a picture from my computer, and turn it into a knitting pattern? I found a software that did it right on the computer a long time ago, and I can’t seem to find it again. Any suggestions, I don’t want to spend money, if I don’t have to on this, but I really want this picture to be a knitting pattern!

I just bought Knitting for Dummies and it’s good but I am a true beginner (as well as a very visual learner) and am looking for something with instructional videos.

Learn the tricks of casting on to 2 circular needles, joining, and knitting around. You’ll learn about the “udder needle,” napping and resting, that it doesn’t matter whether the inside or outside of the knitting shows, how to find your way if you put your knitting down, and more. Cat is the author of two sock books: NEW PATHWAYS FOR SOCK KNITTERS, and her original book which started the entire 2-circular needle knitting craze, SOCKS SOAR ON TWO CIRCULAR NEEDLES. …
